 Master in Canada:

Substantially, a Master can be Thesis based, Project-based or Course based. Course based is too subject centric and is for those who desire employment opportunities in future. While Thesis is for those who want to pursue a PhD.

 Fundamental necessaries:

  • Minimum 3.00 CGPA (75%). Note; some universities also entertain at 2.8 or 2.9 but it depends on the university to university.
  • IELTS score of overall 7 or at least 6.5 with no less than 6 in each module.
  • There are 30 points for Masters which are facilitative when you apply for PR in future.
  • The lifespan of Masters is 1 to 2 years depending on the university and program.
  • You have to be patient after applying for masters ‘cause universities usually take 2 to 3 months to issue an offer letter.
  • Tuition fee amplitudes between 15k to 45K CA$ (depends on university and program as well).
  • There are more job openings for Masters students tomorrow with better skill levels.

Post Graduation Diploma/Certificate in Canada:

BASIC Conditions:
  • Minimum 2.3 CGPA (60%).
  • IELTS score of 6.5 overall with no less than 6 in each.
  • Only 15 points for PR.
  • Its duration is also 1 to 2 years.
  • Most colleges issue offer letters within 1 month.
  • The tuition fee ranges from 14 to 18K CA$ per year. (depends on college).
  • Very bounded job opportunities. You have to be very skilful to get a job.
Visa chance on Master Vs PGD in Canada?

Many are concerned that opting for a one-year postgraduate certificate over a  2-year postgraduate diploma or a Master’s degree would negatively impact his visa chances. The answer is that opting for a course alone depends on you. It doesn’t matter if it’s a 1-year program or two. Visa opportunity is counted on how you convince the visa officer why you want to study the program in Canada and what are your future goals. So write a strong SOP and go for it.

ENDNOTE:

GUYS if you are competent for MASTERS then go for it rather than PGD. With a little effort and time, you can do it. Believe me, it is a worth taking decision. If someone can do it for you then why not you for yourself.

APPEAL:

Senior members kindly add some points in the comment section. And If I am wrong at some point, do notice it, please.

Soon I will be posting a detailed list of universities, offered programs and fee structure as well.

Thank you
